The Den

Welcome to The Den! A haven of humanity, creation and the beauty in the process. Once a stuffy, uptight bank - I'm transforming it into a educational creative hub where our community can come to learn from each other, and learn about ourselves. A living art piece, with interactive elements - from 'paint by number' murals to interactive improv music sessions. Dayton needs a 'third space', somewhere with music, somewhere with joy - and I can't wait to manifest that energy!

I'm Carissa Linder, a multidisciplinary artist who's spent my life learning as many techniques and mediums as I can possibly get ahold of. My greatest passion is the mistakes, and the victory in overcoming them in ways you'd never expect. As a professional artist since 2011, I've had the opportunity to paint large scale murals all over downtown Boise, across the campus at State Hospital South in Blackfoot, and many other places. Canvas work, sculpture work, metalwork, shows and commissions over the past fifteen years have opened my eyes to the incredible communication and community that comes from creating a piece together.

I want to share that with the beautiful community in Dayton, Washington - and the world! We need to remember that our humanity exists outside of a screen, and that there is so much more to experience and learning than we've acknowledged in our everyday lives. The Den will be a place to reconnect with yourself, whether it's at the Creation Stations - what used to be teller windows have now been converted into safe places to come and experiment. There will be a stage and room for dancing, classes from yoga to salsa dancing; an open studio for acrylic painting and an in-house screen printing setup. When I hear, "I'm not an artist, I can't even draw stick figures," all I have to say is - well maybe stick figures aren't your medium. Let's try something else! I want to help you find the thing that makes your soul sing, and we'll figure it out before you go and invest in a bunch of materials that will just sit in a closet once you realize you don't like it.

Please help me manifest this vision for a beautiful community who deserves it in so many ways. I've invested everything I have into this venture, as it's a dream come true in so many ways. I would be honored and blessed to have your support in making it a reality.
